In my 4+ years as a crypto marketer in NYC, I know firsthand that hiring a crypto agency or service provider can make or break your marketing strategy.

If you are a crypto founder or marketer tasked with the tough challenge of hiring an agency in web3, this list was curated just for you.

Not long ago, I had the opportunity to join a cool crypto startup in the Big Apple. As someone with an immense passion for blockchain technology, it was a dream come true. A self-custody multi-chain wallet with fiat banking capabilities and support for digital assets. This was my third stint after working for a small NFT project and the launch of a Layer 1, EVM-compatible protocol.

Little did I know that I was about to learn some valuable lessons in the crypto industry.

As I quickly narrowed down my options, with my CEO breathing down my neck, I immediately realized how time-consuming and risky this might be for a young company with a short runway and lots of competition for its very own target market share. I needed a solid agency, preferably in New York, to build the right marketing strategy, and quickly.

If you were to run today the same research steps that I did on most search engines, you would notice that tons of these agencies are coming from places like India, the UAE, and Europe. Not trying to dismiss the latter, I’m sure they deserve respect for their work, but the truth is that it quickly became a challenge to find local NYC crypto agencies, their services, portfolios, reviews, and (obviously) pricing.

"Why are crypto marketing agencies based elsewhere showing up in New York? When in fact they don't have a presence here."

Therefore, this post is for those going through the same challenge I went through in New York City, and if I were to go back in time, this article would have made my life much easier.

I vetted these myself, met some of the founders, and recognized some of their portfolio brands.

Before we start, note that I am in no way affiliated with these agencies; I simply admire their work, and these would be my top choice if I had to pick another agency for crypto and NFT marketing services in New York.

Now let’s get to it.

Why are crypto and NFT marketing services so hot now?

The total cryptocurrency market cap hit $3.9 trillion in 2024, up 127% from the previous year, largely fueled by the launch of US spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs that brought more than $30 billion in institutional assets. When BlackRock and Fidelity are fighting for market share in crypto ETFs, a brutally competitive market, you know the game has changed.

Congress recently passed the country's first major standalone crypto bill with the GENIUS Act, with President Trump signing it into law and working to make the U.S. the crypto capital of the world.

Not only that, Robinhood stepped up its presence by onboarding numerous coins and tokens to compete against Coinbase’s behemoth market share in the U.S. Banks are ready to offer custodial and exchange services, and the list goes on. It’s safe to say, the spotlight is back on crypto businesses.

If you are a veteran in web3, you know that NFT projects during the 2021 bull run, the blockchain industry went parabolic, sprouting organic online communities left and right. Similar to the recent DeFi winter that changed the game in Solana and Base, just to name a few.

Why not pick a traditional marketing agency?

Here's the truth: most traditional marketing agencies still don't get it.

They're treating crypto marketing like regular digital marketing, which is exactly why specialized agencies in NYC are booked solid and charging premium rates. The audience intellect, market complexity, compliance requirements, and community management aspects of crypto marketing require people who live and breathe web3.

And yes, true crypto OGs know that most alpha goes down on Crypto Twitter (CT), the OG social media for all things crypto. Now called unofficially Crypto X, I suppose.

If there is one that claims that they are the leading NFT marketing agency, and their social media management and user engagement are below par, I'd probably reconsider my options. At least when it comes to community and social media campaigns, to say the least. In crypto, a good community will compete head-to-head with a good product.

Most agencies will offer classic online marketing services, no different from web2. The real challenge is to ensure they understand your user and the right marketing channels to deploy successful campaigns.

As you may imagine, a non-savvy crypto marketing agency will pitch your blockchain, protocol, exchange, oracle, DeFi, or NFT platform, the same standard packaging they’ve been pitching in web2. Even though there is no issue if your potential customers include the "crypto curious" segment, know that you will struggle acquiring core developers and retail crypto users.

What common crypto and NFT marketing services are usually available?

Again, it depends on your crypto project, but it is safe to say that agencies should have a grasp on growing and owning influencer marketing KOLs (key opinion leaders), X, Discord, Telegram, Youtube, Tiktok, Farcaster, Zora, and browsers like Brave, and block scanners. Analytics dashboards like Dune typically come into play as well.

Within these channels, the goal remains to grow the wealth of your project and community, and to accomplish that, builders like to offer NFT projects or tokens, airdrops, staking, and so on.

The list of services remains more or less aligned to web2 to this day, these include: community management, content marketing and SEO, growth campaigns, influencer management, affiliate programs, events and activations, ect. Again, very similar to the services a web2 company may need. What's hard is finding an agency that knows your audience well.

Do you need growth and paid marketing?

If you want to run paid ads on Meta, Google Ads, or Tiktok, you must first navigate the strict compliance crypto landscape requirements of these channels.

If you want to advertise on:

I’ve also been fascinated with the cool mini-tools one could build on Thirdweb, and the marketing targeting capabilities of Addressable.io. The social agents that can be built on Virtuals, Aixbt being the obvious example.

If you want to learn about my top crypto agency picks in New York and what they are best for, check out my curated list below.

Now, let’s get down to it and see which marketing agencies are the real market movers in web3, and are ready to help you build successful campaigns.

Best crypto and NFT marketing services in New York: Top 7 agencies

  1. Hype
  2. Serotonin
  3. NinjaPromo
  4. Coinbound
  5. Plutus Media
  6. NoGood
  7. Luna PR

Let’s look at all these in detail, check their track record, pricing estimates, what they are best for in my opinion, and more.

Note that pricing ranges from under $1,000 for smaller campaigns to $100,000+ for comprehensive marketing strategies with tier-1 media placements. You can also expect many of them to try to tie you to an annual contract; it’s typical agency behavior at the end of the day.

1. Hype

Hype website
Hype
  • Best for: Established brands with strong budgets
  • Portfolio: Coinbase, OKX, Kraken, Kucoin, Metamask, Trust Wallet, Binance, Harmony, Decentraland, Polygon, Cointelegraph, and more
  • Pricing: Not publicly disclosed, premium tier

Why do I like them? For pretty much everything, really. These guys are one of the most cracked-out marketers in the space (in a good way!). They are very active on X, have strong brand values and media chops that reflect what’s hot on the market, and access to all the tooling, network, etc.

I actually met Emily, their CMO, over a video call a while back while working for a fintech company that offered a multi-chain crypto wallet. She was sharp and straightforward; you could tell that Hype would have done wonders for us, although the deal fell through for unexpected reasons. Make sure to catch her dropping alpha on X.

Let’s face it, there are very few crypto marketing service providers in New York with their portfolio, and that is why they are my top choice. They have an extensive list of tailored solutions for premium clients in New York and across the world.

All things considered, expect this agency to be on the highest pricing tier out there.

2. Serotonin

Sertonin website
Serotonin
  • Best for: Products and services that either have a market fit, are revenue-generating, or have a strong runway
  • Portfolio: Crypto.com, Robinhood, Ripple, Alchemy, Ton Foundation, Arbitrum, Bain Capital, Celo, Chainlink, Coindesk, Dapper Labs, Filecoin, IPFS, Layer Zero, Memeland, Polygon, web3Auth, Theta, World of Woman (NFT)
  • Pricing: Not publicly disclosed, premium tier

Beyond agency work, this agency is also behind products like Spindl, a leading web3 marketing analytics platform, and Mojito, a marketplace and marketing engagement tool. I am sure they could crank out custom smart contracts if needed.

As of late, they held conversations with Near's co-founder, Illia Polosukhin, who is arguably spearheading the AI blockchain and crypto scene. Again, these guys have technical know-how and chops like no other.

Perhaps the most amazing portfolio from the entire list. These folks keep working with the very best brands in the crypto and NFT space. Again, this is another top pick and could easily contest for the top spot, but they seem to be diversifying beyond just crypto marketing, leaving me no choice but to give them a more than deserved second spot.

3. NinjaPromo

NinjaPromo website
NinjaPromo
  1. Best for: Startups and growth stage companies
  2. Portfolio: Kucoin, Revolut, HTX, Lisk, BitForex, Dash, Polkadot, Fantom
  3. Pricing: Transparent pricing with 4 plans available with flexible timelines, starting at $3200/mo. Love their transparency and encourage other service providers to do the same

Before I start, let’s appreciate their transparent pricing. The only one on this entire list to do so 👏.

I also love their client list, their case studies cut to the chase, showing great results for HTX and Lisk. A multi-industry agency that is quickly honing in on crypto, and I expect them to compete even more so as they hone in on web3.

4. Coinbound

Coinbound website
  • Best for: They emphasize their influencer marketing and KOL network, in addition to their full-stack of marketing services. I would consider them an option for growth-stage companies and beyond
  • Pricing: Not publicly disclosed, custom quotes based on project scope
  • Portfolio: Sui, OKX, Tron, Immutable, Gala Games, Cosmos, Algorand, Lido, Abstract, Koinly, Dapp Radar, Ethermail, Gods Unchained

They offer a great set of crypto digital marketing services, with an amazing client and partner list. They also mention having a solid KOL network for influencer partnerships, which is key to moving the needle in web3. If they have a network of over 500 influencer alliances, it's probably worth getting on a call with them to see if they align with your target audience.

A full-stack marketing agency ready to deliver with a packed set of comprehensive solutions. Check out their founder, Ty Smith, breaking down some alpha about web3 marketing:

Although at a glance, I could not find enough details about their previous work or crypto marketing agency case studies to move them higher on the rank. It is clear they are pushing hard to grow their brand visibility in the space, and I am sure you will be hearing more from them as the market evolves.

5. Plutus Media

Plutus Media website
Plutus Media
  • Best for: Activations, without a doubt. I am convinced this agency knows web3 and might develop a closer and tailored relationship with the client. If I were a startup, I'd give them a call
  • Portfolio: Cool Cats (NFT collection) SXSW pop-up activation, 3Landers (NFT)
  • Pricing: Not publicly disclosed, but I would expect lower pricing brackets compared to the agencies above

Interestingly enough, this boutique agency might be under the radar, but their SXSW activation of Cool Cats, a blue-chip NFT project, caught my attention. Their work speaks quality, and I would consider them if I were to work on NFT marketing strategies and campaigns.

As a top NFT brand, with more than $430M in transaction volume since its launch, Cool Cats is known to deliver quality products. NFT fans will recognize this brand miles away.

I know one of the founders myself! If they trusted this agency, it is for a reason. This small but mighty agency has plenty of chops under its sleeve, and it's certainly an NFT marketing agency I would consider.

6. NoGood

NoGood website
NoGood
  • Best for: I spoke to them IRL and even got a pricing quote. It was just pretty steep for the startup I was working for. Nonetheless, they have a great track record in web2 worth considering. Better for growth-stage companies
  • Portfolio: Rivet, The Pandemonium (NoGood's own NFT community)
  • Pricing: Not publicly disclosed, premium agency level

A stacked team and quite legendary in the Big Apple, representing some of the best brands beyond web3.

They made a breakthrough with Rivet, targeting a highly intellectual developer audience. If I were to bring developers to my product, I would certainly consider them. I am sure they can tailor to more audiences, but I wish they had more visible crypto clients and case studies on their site.

The only weird thing is that they don't seem to have a presence on X.

Overall, a great team, and I am sure they are cooking up some big things soon. Certainly worthy of being on this list.

7. Luna PR

Luna PR website
LunaPR
  • Best for: For PR needs, this agency has every possible connection there is. Although knowing how much these PR agencies charge in New York, I would say it's best for funded startups, growth companies, and beyond
  • Portfolio: Polygon, KuCoin, Cardano, Ripple, Huobi - 600+ clients since 2017
  • Pricing: Premium tier

In this industry, a PR piece can change your fate, and these guys know everyone there is to know in the industry; that is why I added Luna PR to the list.

One tier-1 article on a top site can ripple across multiple smaller sites trying to ripple the news, on top of giving you valuable backlinks for your site.

Although more known for the PR, they also provide several crypto marketing services. They have worked with an amazing list of clients, and their case studies show clearly why they deserve to be on this list. I’d like to see how else they have made an impact in web3 via case studies.

I would still give them a call if I were to do any digital PR efforts; they know every crypto publisher there is.

8. Bonus - Gilberto Valzania

Gilberto Valzania Linkedin
Gilberto Valzania
  • Best for: Early and growth stage startups that need a marketing leader with technical skills
  • Portfolio: Blockapps and Cogni
  • Pricing: Competitive NYC market rate

Beyond agencies, you can also consider reaching out to me for any crypto and NFT marketing agency services in New York. I have years of 8 years of professional experience with a deep understanding of web3, got into the space in 2017, and never left.

Whether it is the office or the trenches, I am an OG crypto native ready to move the needle for top crypto projects out there. I also have connections all over web3 and fintech. Feel free to say "Gm" via DM on LinkedIn or X, and have a look. In web3, I go by MutantManhattan.eth or .sol.

I've led Growth, Product, and Content marketing functions. At my last fintech and web3 stint, we achieved 730% growth in annual active accounts, 1,233% growth in transacting amounts, 686% in total transactions, and 649% in total transacting accounts. The products I've worked on are compatible with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Binance, Ripple, Solana, Aptos, Polygon, Teher, and Circle.

Lately, I've been fascinated by the work of Base, Arbitrum, Abstract, and Near protocol. I'm always trying to find nascent crypto ventures and tools, while studying their marketing channels along the way. As a retail user, I am well familiar with most categories as well: Exchanges, Marketplaces, DeFi, DePIN, NFTs, Perps, Bridges, Intents, and the list goes on.

Whether you need to define the right NFT marketing cost for your campaign, casually discuss what NFT market or protocol is about to moon, share content marketing strategies, or chat about search engine optimization and website traffic ideas, I am your guy.

New York City is poised to be the crypto capital of the world. With crypto events all over the city, I could not be happier to call this my home. Peep this picture I took at the Solana Hacker House in 2022, little did I know I was going to be standing 2 feet away from Raj Gokal, co-founder of Solana.

If I am not working on projects or content creation for this site, I’m roaming around the city, networking within web3 and fintech, and ready to meet the next folks willing to make a dent in the space.

How do you pick the right one?

At the end of the day, remember why you're doing this: you want to leverage their crypto and NFT marketing service experience to deploy your web3 go-to-market (GTM) strategy faster than you could solo, navigate the increasingly complex compliance landscape without legal headaches, and get realistic ROI forecasting instead of crypto bro promises.

You must map your scope and understand the agency's capabilities. Do you have product market fit (PMF) or have a community already? Budget constraints are real in web3, trust me! Don’t pretend you have institutional money when you're bootstrapped. You will realize that no agency can help you if your product is not up to par or the brand has no moat.

Here are some important questions to answer before you get started:

  • What are your business goals? What are your marketing cost expectations? Do you need a full-stack marketing agency? What type of brand traffic do you need? How is your brand messaging? Do you need social media management services? If not, is anyone managing your social media marketing? Do you need organic web traffic or fast paid advertising marketing campaigns? Or are you looking for something specific, like the leading NFT marketing agencies?

You will also find these answers by analyzing the competitive crypto market, finding the right marketing strategy, and refining your target audience.

Find the right fit. If you need NFT marketing, it's safe to assume you need an NFT marketing agency. Study their past work, not just the flashy case studies on their homepage. If you don't pick the right one for you, it will drain all your time and resources.

The decision matrix is simple:

  • Do they have relevant experience in your specific vertical? Check if they have worked with DeFi, NFTs, Protocols, etc, or whatever service or product line you're in.
  • Can they show you real metrics, not just "helped grow" statements? Remember, the chain does not lie. Nothing like pulling up a Dune analytics dashboard to verify it all.
  • Do they understand your regulatory requirements and target audiences? Let’s face it, this part takes time, and the legal landscape will continue to evolve. If you don't have the right team, expect compliance issues to delay your timelines and increase your work and costs, as you fight to be aligned with media buyers with the clock ticking.

Also, many of these options will offer a variety of innovative strategies to help you capture talent, help you meet potential investors and industry connections, find other blockchain projects, and discover new crypto ventures.

Trust me, if you are looking for anything in crypto, even an NFT marketing company to help you launch your collection, this list fits the bill. You just have to understand their key services as you define your project objectives.

I hope this list helped narrow down some great options for your project. If you read through the list, you are now aware of some of the best crypto marketing talent in New York City and beyond.
